I am divorced with 2 kids (12 & 14). I live in PA and am looking for a Vacation for less than $1500 TOTAL. The best that I can think of is Florida (aside from Disney World). The problem is we are going the 2nd week of August. I read that it is a high of 92ºf in August (Usually about 86ºf here in PA… similar humidity). Is it too hot or do you think we will be ok. We often have hot stretches here hitting near the 100ºf mark.
We have gone to: NYC, Niagara Falls, Chicago, Main, PA (home state), Ocean City - MD, Washington DC, Virginia. I am running out of places to go.
I considered the west coast, but airfare alone would be about 600+baggage to the west coast.
Go to Charleston S.C. it is so beautiful and is a pretty cheap vacation. I loved it when i went.
Rainbow row is very neat and the beach is nearby. Charleston has lots of historical places. there is so much to do there.
Also there is a guided carriage ride that tours the city for you and your kids might like the haunted ghost tour. they are both around 20 dollars a person.
the weather does get hot but the ocean breezes cool everything down.
Also try taking the train. if you book early enough its only like 100 dollars round trip a person. I went from Tampa to Charleston for about that.

florida isn’t so bad except it’s dry heat so it feels a little above what it really is . If your looking for a bargain you should drive out to NC or SC
and try renting a beach house instead most have game rooms beaches and pools. And plenty of time to have a good time with the kids

Florida wont be too hot…. it will feel tropical and a nice change! You can enjoy the beaches, pools, waterparks if it gets really hot. I think most Cruise Lines have really good deals right now which should be like a package / all inclusive deal. Also - I heard Southwest has really cheap flights right now too if you book in advance.
