I am taking a 9 day trip to the east coast near NY and Washington DC. I can’t go down to like…Florida…so please leave those suggestions out. I am looking for great ways to spend my days on the East Coast, and I’ve already covered the Washington DC and New York, New York areas. Please put some suggestions for other cities and places! Thank you!
Boston
Walk the Freedom Trail. It takes you everywhere you want to go, including the North End, which has the best Italian food in the world. The gelato is to die for. Other stops include Paul Revere’s house, the Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, Old Ironsides (U.S.S. Constitution), and Bunker Hill. The tour of U.S.S. Constitution is really neat. Faneuil Hall is where everyone goes to meet, shop, and hang out. (Lots of street theater and other interesting things.)

There is a real interesting museum at Harvard. They have a botanical collection reproduced in blown glass. It’s pretty amazing. Take a walk around the campus and Harvard Square.

Boston cream pie and Parker House rolls were created at The Parker House Hotel. Stop by for dinner. BTW you can order dinners rolls to go and they sell slices of the pie in the gift shop.

Well, you could head north to Boston, New Hampshire, and Maine! Once you get to Boston is really close to Maine! So thats something you could do! Also maybe Cape Cod! My math teacher went on a road trip from DC to Boson, and some places they saw were DC, Baltimore, Philly (Indepndence Hall, and Liberty Bell), then they went to New York and Boston! I would deffiantely recomend Boston, and since you have nine days from there is very close to Maine, so I would recomend heading through New Hampshire and into Maine! Or another option is to head from DC to Shennandoah and Great Smokey Mountains! So it depends what you like! But I would recomend hitting Maine for sure! And you could go back through Vermont or whatever! If you’re willing to take a slight detoure Niagara Falls, would deffinately be a good place! Those New England states are really small you might as well hit Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island! Once again, the decision is up to you but those are some suggestions, but if it was my trip, I would deffinately go into Maine!

Philadelphia is a great place to visit. I would reccomend, if you can afford it, the Ritz-Carlton in city center. It is great for all the tourist attactions, as it is centrally located. The price is steep, around $200-$300 a night. Make sure you ask for an 18th room if you do visit, as they are much larger and amazing! Make sure you check out the National Constitiution Center, Liberty Bell, Rittenhouse Square, Independence Park & Independence Hall, Ben Franklin Museum, and Penn’s landing. Use the big bus to get around and make sure you ride the loop at least once. It is a great way to get around and learn about the city’s rich history at the same time. Using a "Philadelphia Pass" for about $50 or so a day (I’m not sure what it is now, I went in 2007), you can gain admission to all the attactions I mentioned.
If you are looking for a resort, check out:
Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay (Maryland)
Inn Walden (Ohio)
The Sagamore (New York)
The Grandover (North Carolina)
Hope this helps and enjoy your travels!
